Liquor Bottle Engraver Makes A Cognac Birthday Gift Extra Special

Liquor bottle engraver, Desiree Colonna, created a special birthday gift when a customer asked her to find a Dusse Cognac bottle for a friend’s birthday gift. The woman had seen Desiree’s work on Instagram and couldn’t wait for Desiree to engrave her liquor bottle.

Desiree set off to create a one-of-a-kind design for this extraordinarily beautiful bottle of cognac.

Desiree ordered the bottle at a local liquor store, picked it up and then started her work.

The front of the bottle had the classic Dusse cross embedded on it. Desiree decided to do her engraving on the back since there was already a lot on the front of the bottle and there wasn’t much room for the message on the front of the bottle.


The customer wanted a very simple message, “Happy Brithday, Dale!” Desiree asked the client if she wanted a couple joined hearts engraved and the customer loved the idea.

Having experience as a liquor bottle engraver for more than a year, Desiree knew that a simple design would be best. She created the message with her handpiece drill and Engrosser’s Script calligraphy, all by hand, no layout. This bottle is hand engraved, not etched or laser engraved. All of our liquor bottles are engraved by hand for the utmost care and accuracy.

The engraving was completed and Desiree sent the client a picture. The customer was extremely happy with the final result!

Desiree boxed up the bottle and sent it to the recipient. This was all done within a 24 hour time period and the bottle was delivered exactly on the actual birthday, a perfect gift!

Wood Engraving a Ring Box for a Bride to Be

Wood engraving is the art of burning or engraving images or letters into wood using a woodburning tool.  Recently, a bride to be came to us with a beautiful small cherry wood ring box she wanted engraved with the word “MRS.” We were happy to take up the challenge and create a one-of-a-kind calligraphy design for the top of the box.

After the bride was texted pictures of several calligraphy styles to select, we created three designs on the box in pencil. The bride selected the style shelike and the wood engraving was done by hand using a Razertip® woodburning tool.

She loved the end results and posted it to her Instagram page immediately!

Hot Foil Stamping a Leather iPad Cover and Bible for a Local Clergyman

Hot foil stamping can be done on most leather items with a gorgeous final effect if done correctly. The hard part is finding a leather embossing company who would be willing to perform hot foil stamping on items you:

  1. Haven’t bought from them.
  2. Bought from them, but they don’t feel comfortable working with for a myriad of reasons.

Both of these were true for a recent Inkwell Designers customer.

When Dr. Lumanog went to a very large local Christian bookstore to buy a bible, he also brought his iPad cover and wanted both items hot foil stamped with his name in gold foil.

He was told that they couldn’t stamp the bible because the leather was too thin. They also told him they wouldn’t hot foil stamp the iPad because it was his personal property and they wouldn’t take the risk helping him in case something went wrong. Keep in mind, there are instances where the leather won’t take the foil because it’s treated, but this wasn’t the case.

He left the store very frustrated and started looking online. He found the page about our leather embossing service using a Google search and called immediately.

He talked to our CEO, Desiree Colonna who had actually taken the day off  as it was July 3, the day before the July 4th holiday. Dr. Lumanog had just started his sabbatical and really wanted to get the items hot stamped before he took his vacation. Desiree offered to meet him near downtown Woodstock, GA within an hour and had the item done exactly one hour later. Helping Jack on her day off was an easy decision because she loves what she does. “When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work!” stated Desiree when Dr. Lumanog asked why she was so willing to help him with the project.

Live Monogramming Events for Wholly Guacamole A Smash Hit

Live monogramming events are always popular with our marketing agency clients because they nearly always outperform expectations every time. People love the experience of seeing things created and personalized for them in a live setting because it makes them feel special. It all began when a major experiential marketing agency in Los Angeles contacted us about a series of events for their client, Wholly Guacamole®. They were hosting Guac Stops in almost every major city in June and wanted our on site leather monogramming experience to be part of the festivities in Atlanta. They wanted two live monogramming events in three days in Atlantic Station. They would provide the leather keychains and we would bring our leather monogramming machine to do the work in front of the customer. We accepted immediately and couldn’t wait to be part of the fun!

The event was so popular we ran out of keychains within an hour and a half on the first day! They had ordered 100 thinking that would be enough, but people loved watching their keychains monogrammed so much, they lined up 10 people deep with no stopping. They had to order 100 more for the next day. They also ran out within 2 hours even though it was raining.

Watch Engraving Saves Grandaughter’s Gift

Watch engraving from Inkwell Designers helped Victoria find a way to hand engrave a special message on a $400 Seiko watch for her grandfather when no one else in Atlanta would do it.

Victoria called us as she found herself at the end of her rope. She needed the back of a Seiko watch engraved with a simple phrase and her name and was in a time crunch. She was leaving to see her grandfather the following weekend. No one else in Atlanta, including Things Remembered, would touch it because it was such a high value item and because there wasn’t much time to do the work. When she called other custom watch engraving companies in Atlanta, they either didn’t call back or they sent her to Things remembered. (Running in circles is never a good idea!)

Desiree told her she could definitely engrave the watch after seeing a picture of it. It had adequate space on the back and plenty of strength to withstand her drill.

Victoria dropped it off to her the next day and Desiree had the watch engraving completed within 48 hours.

Leather Monogramming Events at Bloomingdale’s Are A Huge Success

Leather monogramming events booked at Bloomingdale’s in Lenox Mall in Atlanta were a huge success this Father’s Day weekend. Desiree Colonna, our CEO, monogrammed and embossed faux saffiano leather toiletry bags with a $100 purchase in men’s skincare and fragrances. She offered both gold and silver foil monogramming. Over 200 bags were monogrammed bringing in the store thousands of dollars in fragrance sales just in the first hour. People love the personalization and the in person animation they experience with experiential marketing events such as these. Customers will tend to stay in the department longer and buy more when Inkwell Designers is on the scene!

Location is everything! Desiree’s table was situated right in front of the escalators in the men’s department on Level 1. People were able to see her table coming off of the escalator and almost everyone stopped to ask about her leather monogramming machine out of curiosity. Most made their way to the fragrance counter to purchase and receive a bag. These are unique gifts you can’t find anywhere else.

When other fragrance Account Executives for lines such as Armani and Parfumes de Marly saw how popular her table was, they also asked Desiree to emboss and monogram their fragrance sleeves and wallet giveaways during the events. They even had to receive special permission from Bloomingdale’s corporate to use her leather monogramming services. She’s already invited back for more leather monogramming events in the Fall.
