As the CEO of Inkwell Designers, I’ve spent years pushing the boundaries of personalization. I know that for the high-achieving women of the Women’s Orthodontics Association of Atlanta, “good enough” never is. They’ve spent their careers mastering the latest in 3D imaging and specialized bonding, so they understand better than anyone that innovation is about precision. That’s why we were hired two years in a row to create my cold embossing event activation with custom made luggage tags for their annual conference. This year, for KL Owen.

That’s why I’m so excited to share a process I’ve pioneered that is changing the way we think about leather: UV-DTF Cold Embossing.
Redefining the Impression
There’s a common misconception that embossing has to involve heavy metal plates or high heat. I’ve turned that idea on its head. By leveraging UV-DTF (Direct-to-Film) technology, I’ve developed a way to create “cold embossed” monograms that offer a raised, tactile texture and incredible durability without ever risking the integrity of the leather with heat.

Here is why this innovation is the perfect fit for the orthodontic professional:
- Clinical Precision: My UV-DTF process allows for intricate, high-resolution monograms that traditional stamping simply can’t touch.
- Long-Lasting Durability: Just as you build smiles to last a lifetime, this method creates a permanent bond. These monograms are scratch-resistant, fade-resistant.
- Vibrant Sophistication: Unlike “blind” embossing which is just a colorless indentation, my cold embossing method allows for stunning color depth and a 3D feel that stands out on your planners, luggage tags, key fobs, journals and more.
- Eco-Friendly: Our inks are safe for the environment. We do not use any electricity so our carbon footprint is very, very small. We can perform our activation anywhere!

Innovation Born in Atlanta
I didn’t just stumble on this method—I invented it because I saw a need for a more sophisticated, modern way to personalize the items we use every day. In a city like Atlanta, where we lead in both medical excellence and creative commerce, this technology represents the best of both worlds.
