Wine Glass Engraving for a Special Birthday

We loved creating this wine glass engraving for a special birthday. The wine glass really made the birthday girl giggle with delight! She turned 60 years old. A Diamond Jubilee is a sixtieth anniversary of an event such as a date of birth. The engraved wine glass was a special representation and commemoration of this special birthday event and something she could keep and use over and over again without worrying the engraving would wear off. That’s why wine glass engraving, as opposed to etching, is much more durable and lasts a long time.

We created a special wine glass engraving design for a gentleman who wanted to give his mother a very special 60th birthday gift. He wanted a diamond in the middle and the words “Diamond Jubilee” included in the design. The picture above is what we came up with.

Although the birthday party was more than 2 months away, we created the glass early for the actual day of her birthday. The client wanted to present the engraved wine glass to her in private before the party to make the gift extra special. We engraved two glasses exactly the same. The glass itself was from Pottery Barn in North Point Mall which is where the client also works. (We have done Pop-Up Engraving Events at Pottery Barn in the past and will be doing more in the future. Wine glass engraving is a little tricky because some wine glasses are made with very thin glass while some are made with thicker glass. It’s best for us to use a wine glass with thicker glass in order for it not to shatter under the pressure of the drill. We actually had to throw our first glass away because of a hairline crack that showed up during the engraving. The next time around, we adjusted our pressure and it turned out just right. Wine glass engraving can scare a lot of seasoned engravers, but not our team!

The Diamond Jubliee wine glass was a huge hit and the birthday girl is still enjoying it well after her special day! She’ll be using these glasses to toast her guests at her birthday party this month.

Engraved Corporate Wine Bottles Big Hit at 25 Year Anniversary

When we heard fellow Woodstock small business owner, Venessa Lanier, was celebrating 25 years in business, we had to give her one of our special engraved corporate wine bottles to commemorate the event! Vanessa has owned her spa and salon since Desiree moved to Georgia, 25 years ago. Our CEO, Desiree Colonna, was a hair model for her.

I chose a special engraved corporate wine bottle for her from Robert Mondavi vineyards. Then I set out to engrave a special message, “Here’s to 25 Beautiful Years” and a number 25 stipple engraved on the front of the wine bottle along with a special “Congratulations!” message on the side and the name of her business, Salon and Spa Venessa. It came out just beautifully.

My timing was perfect. When I drove up to Salon and Spa Venessa, Venessa and her staff were taking pictures out in front. I handed her the bottle and she held it in the official shot. This wasn’t planned on my part, just happened that way. It was really awesome! She was so surprised. She gave me a big hug and thank you and later send the pictures of the engrave corporate wine bottle in this post. Doesn’t she look fantastic?!

Venessa, here’s to your next 25 years in business. I promise next time to bring an even bigger engraved corporate wine bottle to you!

Nursing Student Drives Two Hours for Stethoscope Engraving

Inkwell designers offers stethoscope engraving. Last weekend I had a nursing student, Erica Franklin, drive two hours to see us just to get her stethoscope engraved.

Erica called me the week before because she had found us on Google and saw we engraved stethoscopes and other medical tools. I told her about our Engraving Pop-Up Shop at Pottery Barn in North Point Mall in Alpharetta the following weekend and said I’d love to meet her there. She drove all the way from Snellville to see us to have me personally engrave her stethoscope right through a big accident and rain on 400 which is a feat in itself! She was so excited because every engraver she called in Atlanta refused to help her engrave her stethoscope because they didn’t have the right tools. My little dental drill was perfect for the job.

When she arrived, I had my table all set up. I was ready to go. I engraved her name on the stethoscope and handed it to her. She was really happy. She said, “I haven’t been able to find anyone to engrave my rose gold stethoscope. The company I bought it from won’t engrave these, only the silver ones. I’m definitely going to tell Mercer medical and nursing students about you!” That was music to my ears! Not only was she a happy customer, she couldn’t wait to send us referrals. Referrals are the lifeblood of any business, especially when you’re just starting out.

Erica gave me a big hug before she left. I told her to remember me whenever she used her stethoscope and I wished her well. I loved knowing we were able to engrave her stethoscope and make it personal and special for her.

Liquor Bottle Etching Makes a Bourbon Birthday Gift Even More Special

Liquor bottle etching creates a beautiful gift he’ll never forget. A client called and wanted to present his brother’s favorite bourbon in a special way for his birthday and asked us if we etched liquor bottles. He told us he had a special bottle of Blanton’s Bourbon he wanted to give his brother along with a special message to engrave on it.

We hand etched the brother’s nickname, “DIDIE” using a stippling effect using a dental drill. It was literally done dot by dot, outlining the exact font the client chose and then filling it in. The stippling matched the stopper on top of the bottle and really brought the entire design together.

Then we used free hand calligraphy to engrave the message on the liquor bottle. (There is truly nothing we can’t engrave calligraphy on in our shop. The only exception is plastic.)

The liquor bottle itself is molded in great shape that enhanced the calligraphy with its facets of glass. We engraved each letter in a facet so it would be centered on the front of the liquor bottle. We etched the birthday message and date on the back.

The etched liquor bottle was a big hit! The client’s brother didn’t even want to open it because it was so unique.

Liquor bottle etching is a lot of fun. We can get really creative depending on the shape of the liquor bottle itself. These bottles make fantastic gifts during the holidays for law firms, CPAs and other corporate gifts as well as great groomsmen and wedding gifts too.

Creating Hand Engraved Wedding Glasses

My brother is getting married this weekend in Montana so I designed a couple of hand engraved wedding glasses for him and his bride. They can use these wedding glasses both during the ceremony and for years to come as a remembrance of their special day. Their initials are M and M as you can see in the image. I added their wedding date and “Congratulations!” at the bottom of each wedding glass. I also added little hearts as a reminder of the love they share.

What’s really funny is I used a dental drill to hand engrave these wedding glasses. My brother is a dentist so the irony wasn’t lost on both of us.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the wedding and had to deliver these via FedEx. It worked out just fine. The hand engraved wedding glasses got there in one piece and they were able to use them the same day for a special toast.

Unique Christening Gift Ideas

Sometimes our clients give us unique christening gift ideas we never thought about. A hand engraved wine bottle for the baby? Well, sorta. Our client is going to present the wine bottle to the parents. Once its used, they can save the bottle as a vase or heirloom to remember the baby’s christening by. (They were even thinking of saving the bottle for the child’s 21st birthday, although it may be vinegar by then!)

Hand engraved wine bottles are also unique christening gifts for the godfather and godmother who really can enjoy them fully! Might want to consider ordering a couple for them to enjoy.
