Wine Bottle Engraving Events at Kroger for Penfolds

Wine bottle engraving events, sponsored by Penfolds Wine, were timed perfectly right before the holidays. The wine bottle engraving events at Kroger stores in Atlanta gave customers a chance to personalize last minute hostess gifts for both corporate and personal parties.

Penfolds Wine sponsored the events at the Disco Kroger in Atlanta and also other locations around the Buckhead and north suburbs. We hand engraved wine bottles with a high speed drill right after customers made their purchase. Our engraving is much faster than any machine, about one minute per bottle compared to a machine’s five minutes per bottle. Plus, customers love the hand engraved element versus just a font from a machine. We were also able to embellish the bottles with pictures of holly and flowers.

Kroger customers were so excited by the activation, one customer unexpectedly bought over 20 bottles when she saw how beautiful and unique the engraved calligraphy was on each wine bottle.


After each bottle was engraved, the engraving was filled by Desiree’s assistant, Joe, with silver or gold colored wax which makes the engraving really stand out on each wine bottle.


The wine bottle engraving events were something new for Kroger stores in Atlanta. The wine bottle engraving enabled Penfolds to sell almost double the amount of wine the night of the events. There will be more wine bottle engraving events at Kroger for Penfolds and other brands in the future due to the popularity of the event. Holiday Gift Engraving at Hermés in New York Was A Great Honor

Holiday gift engraving at Hermés was in full swing a few weeks ago when Desiree Colonna, our CEO, was flown from Atlanta to New York’s Hermés store on Madison Avenue to engrave fragrances for guests. It was a great honor for her because she was one of very few fragrance engravers in the world to be flown into the Hermés New York location. They only hire engravers two or three times a year.

Desiree spent the day engraving at no charge for all guests who purchased fragrance gifts. The engraving was very popular and clients were very happy to have their fragrance purchases personalized in such a unique way.

The Hermés store does not disappoint in sheer size. It is literally five floors of amazing luxury items including china, footwear, jewelry and their elusive Birkin and Kelly bags. They even have a section devoted to their signature equestrian goods.

The highlight of the trip was when Brian, one of the top salesmen, allowed her to experience a Birkin bag presentation on a break from the holiday gift engraving. Not many people are even allowed to see the $10,000 and up Birkin bags without first being vetted by the salespeople. These bags go as high at$89,000 and are very hard to find. The salesman, Brian, took her behind the scenes to see the bag in real life.

The Birkin bag didn’t disappoint with its supple Italian leather and unique style. This was below is in a color called Tomato Red.

After the presentation, it was back to work. Desiree engraved many bottles for guests including the ones below.

Twilly d’Hermés is their newest and most popular fragrance. It even has their signature scarf around the top of the bottle for extra style and perfect branding!

The holiday gift engraving event was very successful. The store management couldn’t believe how quickly Desiree engraved the bottles without layout or lines stating she was the “fastest engraver they ever had in the store!” They loved the beautiful calligraphy engraving on the bottles and are looking forward to inviting her back again for future holiday gift engraving events.

To top it all off, Mother Nature decided to throw some snow on the scene for a few hours making it the perfect holiday gift engraving experience for all the shoppers.

Desiree flew back to Atlanta that same night enjoying the view from the plane.

Custom Glass Engraving for a Harry Potter Birthday Celebration

Our custom glass engraving service helped make a Harry Potter birthday celebration even more special for the kids at Reformation Brewery. We got the call a few nights before the celebration on July 30 (also happens to be our CEO’s birthday). Merry Quarles from Reformation Brewery asked Desiree if she could create a special “horcrux” for the kids to find at the birthday party. “No problem!” said Desiree. We had done a few live engraving events at Reformation so Merry knew we could handle the job.

Desiree picked up the glass at Reformation that same day and went to work in her engraving studio.

She found the correct “H” online and printed it out on special drafting paper with a sticky back used by draftsmen. Then she pasted the paper on to the glass and started the custom glass engraving process with her handpiece drill. If you look closely at the H, you’ll see it is made up of several hundred dots, like a dot matrix except these are all done by hand. Every dot is carefully placed in the outline of the design. It is a lot of work and takes more time than our regular engraving, but the results are fantastic and we can recreate most any design you can find both online and offline.

Merry told Desiree both the kids and adults loved the glass. Many wanted to take it home, but only the person who found it got to keep it. The glass was a huge hit and made the celebration even more special.

Watch Engraving Saves Grandaughter’s Gift

Watch engraving from Inkwell Designers helped Victoria find a way to hand engrave a special message on a $400 Seiko watch for her grandfather when no one else in Atlanta would do it.

Victoria called us as she found herself at the end of her rope. She needed the back of a Seiko watch engraved with a simple phrase and her name and was in a time crunch. She was leaving to see her grandfather the following weekend. No one else in Atlanta, including Things Remembered, would touch it because it was such a high value item and because there wasn’t much time to do the work. When she called other custom watch engraving companies in Atlanta, they either didn’t call back or they sent her to Things remembered. (Running in circles is never a good idea!)

Desiree told her she could definitely engrave the watch after seeing a picture of it. It had adequate space on the back and plenty of strength to withstand her drill.

Victoria dropped it off to her the next day and Desiree had the watch engraving completed within 48 hours.

Engraved Watches Become Precious Keepsakes with A Loved One’s Handwriting

Engraved watches are beautiful, but if you add a loved one’s handwriting, they become beautiful keepsakes. We can add engraved handwriting to any surface including glass, metal, leather, wood and crystal.

Sarah contacted us after her boyfriend’s father passed away. She wanted her boyfriend’s father’s watch engraved with his father’s handwriting. The watch was made of stainless steel. She was turned away from many jewelry stores in Atlanta because they simply didn’t offer this service or wouldn’t take on such a precious item.

Our Master Engraver, Desiree Colonna, took on the challenge. She had engraved watches before but this one was extra special.

Desiree had Sarah email her samples of the handwriting she wanted to be copied onto the back of the watch. Although she was a little nervous, Desiree was able to recreate the handwriting exactly with a Sharpie and use her handpiece drill to engrave over it perfectly. Here is the handwriting and the finished item is pictured below.

Engraved Birthday Gifts Wow 80 Year Old Scotch Lover

Engraved birthday gifts are perfect for the person who has everything, especially 80 year old Scotch lovers. These made to order custom engraved scotch glasses were ordered via Facebook messenger for a client who wanted to give Faith a present she would never forget. The tricky part was he wanted the glasses delivered the day of her 80th birthday party which was only two days away. Not a problem for the Inkwell team, in fact we love challenges.

We got to work immediately. We found these glasses at Bed, Bath and Beyond within the hour. Then we engraved them with the exact message our client wanted along with the birthday girl’s name. We also created an engraved glass for her husband to match. It was a complete set!

After we were done with the engraved birthday gifts, we boxed them up and took them over to our local FedEx store.

They arrived two days later and the surprise was all set to begin. When the FedEx man stopped at their house in Bremerton, WA, they didn’t know what to think. Not many packages are delivered in their neighborhood. The man came to their door and delivered the package during the party. Here is a picture when Faith opened the box. Our client was able to capture the moment and send it to us via text. It was delightful to see Faith’s reaction. She loved the engraved birthday gifts!

The client was so happy because he didn’t have to do anything to make this happen except send a Facebook message.
